If Black captures the
knight, White draws with perpetual check: 1...fxg5 2.Qxg5+ Kh8 3.Qh6+
Kg8 4.Qg6+ Kh8 (Black must not try to run away: 4...Kf8 5.Rf1+ Ke7
6.Rf7+ Kd8 7.Qd6 mate).
2.Qh7+ Kf8 3.Qh8+ Ke7

Now White gets his rook into the act.
4.Re1+ Kd7

Next comes a queen move that you might not have anticipated - it's
easy to overlook backwards moves that create check.
5.Qh3+ Kd8 6.Rxe8+ Kxe8 7.Qe6+

Black is still a rook up, but now his king has nowhere to hide.
Amazing that White can pull this off with just a queen and a knight.
7...Ne7 8.Qf7+ Kd7
8...Kd8 9.Ne6+ wins the queen
with a knight fork.
9.Qe6+

Perpetual check - Black cannot escape the checks as White's queen
shuttles back and forth between e6 and f7.
The players
can agree to a draw here, though if Black is feeling mean he can
always wait for a three-fold repetition of the position to occur.
