Black to move and win
White has just played queen [from h4] to capture a
black pawn on h5, and he now threatens mate at h7. Can Black ignore
that threat?
Hint: Black has the g1 square covered three
times (by two rooks and a knight.) White only has it covered
twice (by king and bishop.) In addition, notice that the White
king has no flight squares.

What an economical mate - a rook, a knight and a pawn
combine to mate the opposing monarch, each performing multiple tasks:
the pawn protects the knight and covers the f3 square; the knight
protects the rook, and also covers the f2 square; finally the rook
gives the actual checkmate, and covers both f1 and h1. Very
pretty!
