White to move and win

White to move &
win

1.Qd7+ Bxd7 2.Nd6+

Double-check!  Of course, it's also a knight-fork against the black queen, but White has a bigger target in mind.

While there are normally three ways to get out of check (move the king, interpose, capture the checking piece) when someone is in double-check the only way out is to move the king.  This is the power of the double-check!

2...Kd8 3.Nf7+ Kc8

Now, if White could only place a rook on d8, he'd have mate!  But the d7-bishop blocks the path.  Of course, a white rook on e8 would mate just as effectively as one on d8, but once again that pesky d7-bishop guards his monarch by threatening to capture any white piece landing on e8.  Now that should ring a bell for you - a piece with more than one job to do is an overworked piece!  It can't do both jobs at once.

4.Re8+ Bxe8 5.Rd8 mate

In just this one problem you have seen a queen sacrifice, a double-check, and a clearance sacrifice resulting in checkmate on a vulnerable back rank made possible by an overworked piece.  Whew!  That's a full day's workout in tactics right there!
