José Soza (2188) - David Godoy,( [A55]
Linares 2001, 20.05.2001

1. d4              Nf6
2. c4              c6
3. Nc3           d6
4.e4              Nbd7
5. Nf3            e5
6. Be2           Be7
7. 0-0             0-0
8. Rb1

I think this is one of the best alternatives for White.

8. .....             a5
9. a3

9.b3 is the correct move, preparing 10 a3 and b4.

9. .....            exd4
10. Nxd4      Nc5
11. f3            a4

Logical, not allowing b4.

12. Be3         g6

Preparing to pass the bishop to g7.

13. Qc2         Re8
14. Kh1

Always a useful move, preparing g4 by freeing up the g1 square for the rook.

14. .....           Bf8
15. Rbd1       Qa5
16. g4

White has more space on the board.

16. .....           Ne6
17. Nxe6       Bxe6
18. g5            Nd7
19. f4             Nc5
20. Bd4

20.f5? Bxf5 21.exf5 Rxe3

20. .....           Qa6?
21. Nd5!!       Bxd5

In the alternative 21...cxd5 22.cxd5 Qb6 23.dxe6 Rxe6 24.f5 White has good play.

22. cxd5          Qa5
23. Bc3           Qc7
24. Bf3            Bg7
25. Bxg7         Kxg7
26. e5

26. .....             b6
27. exd6          Qxd6
28. dxc6          Qc7
29. Qc3+         Kg8
30. Bg2?!

I think stronger is 30.f5

30. .....             Rac8
31. f5               Qe5
32. fxg6           hxg6
33. Qc4!

33. .....             Rc7

If 33...Re7 then 34.Rxf7 Rxf7 35.Bd5 Rcf8 36.Rf1 Qe7 37.Rxf7 Rxf7 38.Bxf7+ Kg7 39.Bd5+-

34. Bd5           Ne6
35. Rde1!

Preparing to take on e6 with the bishop.

35. .....             Qd6
36. Rf6            Rce7
37. Bxe6!        Rxe6
38. Rfxe6        Rxe6
39. Rxe6          fxe6
40. c7

With an easy win.

40. .....              Qd1+
41. Kg2            Qd2+
42. Kf3             Qd1+
43. Kf4             Qd2+
44. Ke5            Qxg5+
45. Kxe6            1-0
