White can hardly miss this one - any
checking move he chooses mates in one!
(23 choices, if you insist.)

Today's position is taken from:

You can't miss it; or - can you?
by FM Amatzia Avni

We received the following insightful message from Günter Büsing (editor of Die Schwalbe):

"Apparently, each retractive move of bK results in an illegal double-check which White cannot withdraw, and therefore it looks as if it was Black to move and stalemate!?  Not quite so because Black can retract Ke4-d5 and the double-check was given by en-passant capture Pe5:f6! (with previous moves Bf7-f5 Bg8-h7+ etc.).  This is the only reason for the presence of wPf6."

Thanks Günter!!
