FISCHER´S IN MEMORIAM BOOK
Pictures and text by by Einar S. Einarsson.

Friends and devotees of Bobby Fischer have opened an In Memoriam book in Reykjavík´s Culture House for those who want to pay him their last respects and honor his memory.

Culture House, “Headquarters” of the RJF-Committee

The Memoriam Book

The heading in English reads:

In memory of
Robert James Fischer
1943-2008
World Chess Champion
we write our names in this book
as a token of gratitude and respect.
May his remembrance be blessed.

Benedicta sit eius memoria

“Cattle die kingsmen die
all men are mortal
Words of praise
will never parish
nor a noble name!

From Hávamál
(A very ancient ode from the Viking age.)

Saemi Pálsson, his long standing friend, was the first to sign...

...but Einar S. Einarsson, chairman the RJF Campaign and Support Group, and
Gudmundur G. Thorarinsson, organizer of the 1972 Match "Of All Times" followed up.

FISCHER´S
MEMORIAL
SERVICE

A memorial service for the late and fallen chess legend Bobby Fischer will be held at Laugardaelakirkja church where he rests, Saturday February 16th.

It will be a modest service which is orchestrated by the RJF group members and is open to all, but the the small country church only seats 60 persons.

FISCHER´S CROWN

An Icelandic designer, Elias Sigurdsson, has
designed a special Chess Crown in the honor and
memory of Bobby Fischer - King of Chess.

Left is a poster which Elías did for the
Memorial Service, which we will also
print as a postcard and give away to those
who attend and sign the In-Memoriam book.

Below is the last known photograph taken of Bobby Fischer, taken by Einar S. Einarsson:
