Lithuanian IM Algimantis Butnorius in new Senior World Chess Champion!
Acers scored an impressive 7 out of 11 points with 5 wins and 4 draws, achieving a performance rating of 2289. There were 233 players from 41 countries, many being Grand Masters, FIDE Masters, and National Masters. Men age 60 and over were eligible to compete. The overall winner, and new Senior World Chess Champion, was Lithuanian IM Algimantis Butnorius, with 9/11. Three GMs tied for 2nd, at 8.5/11. Jude's finish (tied for 26th) was better than the next-best American, GM Anatoly Lein, who scored 6.5/11 to finish tied for 44th-63rd.
